10 hours

This is about weight and I am keeping it short and writing in the afternoon to reduce late night bed procrastination.

I am happy to be making some progress on little routines and habits. I am not happy about my backwards progress on weight and wine.

I started 2021 at 160 pounds. Heaviest ever and not great for my 5′ 1″ frame. According to my notes, I somehow managed to lose about 10 pounds the first half of the year and about 12 the second. I also did not drink the last 5 months of the year. I think it’s interesting that changing that habit did not lead to a different rate of weight loss but I probably did some substituting of sweets.

And a year later, despite all my talk about taking better care of my physical health, here I am at the end of the year, up to 147 and, of greater concern, just as sedentary as before and still drinking my wine… not every night, not to horrible excess, but I just can’t be cavalier about booze.

So, I am going to try something I’ve been thinking about for awhile. The window approach to food, ie a form of intermittent fasting where you give your body a chance to give meaning to the word breakfast. Some folks keep their meals within an 8 hour span (like 11am to 7pm). I’m going to see how 10 hours works (approx 10am to 8pm).

This will have the secondary effect of keeping me from grabbing a nightcap.
